On the path to becoming a missionary we encounter a variety of personal, financial and logistical obstacles. Hear a seasoned missionary talk about his own experience of overcoming a personal obstacle.
What obstacles did you need to overcome on your path to missions?
What were the hardest obstacles for me to overcome in being a missionary?
For me personally, it was myself. My flesh, what I want to do, the kind of food I liked, my rights, even my cultural understandings, those things were more of a hindrance in the beginning, and I needed to surrender all of those to the Lord, and say, God, you can do whatever you want with me.
Then those other things, such as overcoming the language, and cultural differences, even some the loneliness, was far smaller an issue to deal with once I’d dealt with myself and my issues.
But I did that there, I wasn’t trying to solve everything before I left, and that’s one danger, is, I’ll never be ready enough. But God will work through us to the end of our days.

Are you in South East Asia? I seen a flag in the background and I was just wandering if it was from a country in SE Asia… I appreciate your honesty and openess, That always gives people hope that God can use them on the Mission Field.
