Going overseas as a missionary and as a single woman can present unique challenges — as well as unique opportunities — that couples or single men might not have to deal with. This video begins to address some challenges single women may run up against as missionaries.
Obstacles specific to single female missionaries and how to address them
How to address the issue of being a single woman on the field.
I’m a member care person at OM USA who works specifically with single women on the field.
We as women, we desire relationship, we want to connect with those around us and have those deep relationships. Otherwise, we have a feeling of isolation and loneliness. So how do I address that? I really encourage women to pray and ask God to show them, who around them--maybe somebody in their local church, a local believer, a teammate--if they could be that safe person for them, for them to connect with and to have that relationship with.
I don’t know about you, but I’ve heard over and over again, Well, aren’t you afraid, if you go as a single woman on the field, that you’ll never get married? It’s a valid fear, I don’t want to negate that, but you want to be wherever God is calling you to be, and I believe that he’ll provide relationship and fulfillment no matter where that is.
